I manage the development and engagement arm of Safe Voices, the domestic abuse and sex trafficking resource center serving Maine's Androscoggin, Franklin, and Oxford Counties. This work includes comms strategy, philanthropy cultivation, team development, and more, and I try to approach each part with a commitment to ethical practices, racial equity and social justice, and a sincere effort to end domestic violence in my home state and lift up fellow Mainers in the process.

As a counselor and leader within the communications office, I managed a team of designers to develop and produce comprehensive marketing campaigns for the college. While leading the creative team at BCO, I worked closely with the Chief Communications Officer and other senior leaders to meet the specific needs of campus partners and the broad objectives of the college. As production manager of Bates Magazine and coordinator of the college’s brand licensing program, I kept a keen eye on the public face of the college and how these vehicles supported and informed the overall Bates brand.

I led a team of three designers and a rotation of freelancers to produce suites of top notch admission, advancement, internal, and external print and digital communications for Bates College. As the primary contact for clients, vendors, and designers, I cultivated strategic partnerships and maintained a positive professional culture among all parties. In addition to project management for design projects originating with our office, I served as production manager for Bates Magazine — a twice yearly communication vehicle for the college’s 26,000+ alumni — and as coordinator for the college’s brand licensing effort.

I supported the design and web team in the Bates Communications Office (BCO) by shepherding web and print projects from inception to delivery, including the gathering of assets; communication with clients; copy development; organization with print and other vendors; partnership with writers, photographers, and other media experts within BCO; service as a contributing editor of Bates Magazine; development of communication strategies with on-campus clients; and the day-to-day management of the college's licensing initiative.

I supported the Bates Communications team by managing the office, including the handling of email and phone inquiries as well as the department budget and records; the maintenance of office supplies and office upkeep, etc.; the provision of administrative support to the AVP, including managing their calendar, travel, meetings, and organization; supporting a team of talented videographers, photographers, writers, etc. on a variety of projects; the coordination of internal meeting and event details as well as BCO job searches and staff transitions. Additional duties included conducting research, acting as a first contact for media inquiries, monitoring BCO email accounts, proofreading, etc. as assigned.

I completed history research assignments related to supervisors' professional concentrations, prepared electronic and hardcopy summaries of research results, offered feedback on articles and book chapters as they were readied for publication, and crafted an informational website related to a university travel course.

I worked one-on-one with students at all skill levels to craft, improve, and refine a wide variety of writing pieces, including academic essays, creative writing pieces, letters, and speeches; assisted students in mastering correct citation and formatting for Turabian, APA, and MLA stylebooks; offered presentations to large groups about Writing Center services, academic integrity policies at the university, writing skills, and peer editing processes; and tutored students for reading and writing sections of standardized testing, such as the PRAXIS tests and the Core Academic Standards for Educators.
