Volunteering as a Gymnastics Coach between 2010-2016, I gained formal qualifications in Coaching and moved into paid employment in June 2016. Working with a Senior Coach to safely lead gymnastics training sessions for children aged 5-17, my job has enabled me to develop strong communication, teamwork and leadership skills through implementation of disciplined, yet fun, training schedules. This work has involved creating gymnastics routines, as well as working to specific standards of physical development designated by British Gymnastics for competitive gymnastics events. I have developed my confidence to communicate with a wide range of people, older, younger and higher ranked than myself. This has allowed me to form professional relationships with all involved in the sport, further developed through my secretarial role. As Club Secretary my role involves co-ordinating memberships, collating and maintaining confidential information, competition entries and devising and disseminating social media communications with parents, carers and members. This strengthened my organisational skills and understanding of the safe collection and storage of confidential personal information.

Given responsibility for key projects in assembly line production, including redesign of a Cap Feed machine and the introduction of a Load Cell component, gave me an opportunity to fully implement my theoretical knowledge to real world engineering problems. In particular, these developed my project management skills from concept to implementation including:• Data analysis to identify problems• Devise potential solutions in liaison with colleagues and select the best solution• Design solution using CAD (Inventor)• Assemble parts to create a model of the solution• Check CAD model matches design specification• Adjust and streamline modelled solution• Create final drawings to be sent to manufacturer• Receive and install parts; check machine is in running order• Ensure health and safety requirements are met• Train operators in use of new machinery• Build new component into data analysis monitoringAlongside project management skills I have developed teamwork through liaison with contractors, managers and colleagues; enhancement of communication skills; improvement of organisation and time keeping and advancement of problem solving skills.An experience that highlighted the importance of accuracy occurred within my first project. Having received parts from the manufacturer I found that some did not fit together as expected, this was due to an unseen error of a tolerance on a drawing. It resulted in me having to alter the part to ensure it could complete the designated task. I also ensured the drawing was corrected for future use.I was particularly proud of an innovative solution I found in order to restrict the orientation of a packing table to 180°. This was to prevent the risk of electrical cable entanglement due to the addition of the load cell to the rotating packing table.
