Head Race Team Coach
Current
Unit Leader - Scuba Camp
I was the leader of the scuba diving section of Sea Turtle Summer camp for the 2022 season. While in this position I lead different groups of around 10-12 kids - aged 13-17- through their PADI open water, advanced open water and rescue diving certifications. As a Unit Leader I was also in charge of managing a staff of 3 other individuals and coordinating with upper management regarding everything from scheduling boat days and lessons to making sure that every kid got their meds on time. It was an incredibly challenging position, as we worked long hours with the kids in both 5 day and 12 day cycles. Furthermore we not only had to make sure they got certified but also make plan supplementary activities to ensure they were having fun at summer camp as well. Along with teaching them about Scuba diving we also taught lessons based in Marine biology, ecology and conservation.
Research Assistant
I worked as an intern for the Non-Profit and Non- Governmental conservation organization known as the Turks and Caicos Reef Foundation. Some of my jobs and experiences included data management and organization, coral fragmentation, coral disease treatments, disease research, whale necropsy, microbiological treatments, assorted field-work and public/youth outreach. I primarily worked with the Foundation on their research regarding Stony Coral Tissue Loss Disease and the collecting of data as well as testing of treatments to cure the disease.
Water Sports Instructor
A member of the water-sports team and sailing instructor for RED hospitality at the Ritz Carlton Turks and Caicos. This was a brand new Ritz Carlton and I was chosen to be a part of the opening team for the hotel. I received hospitality and customer service training as well as have experience in the tourism and service industry with one of the largest and most prestigious hotel brands in the world. All of the sailing and other water sports duties that I had were held to the high Ritz Carlton standard.
Environmental Education Director
Director of environmental education for all age groups at the Florida Yacht Club summer camp between the months of June- August 2020. • Part of my job included finding innovative ways of teaching children aged 5-17 about the ecosystem and the marine environment around them, as well as enlightening them about and allowing them a space to ask questions and discuss about our current global environmental issues such as climate change, plastic pollution and marine habitat destruction.
