Hello! When I was a kid and people would ask me what I wanted to be when I grow up, I would always say teacher. I was bullied in middle school and my teachers would always make me feel safe and supported, and I want to be that for other people. I have worked from kids to young adults at summer camps, the preschool I worked at, and as a peer advisor. I love getting to support people emotionally, through kindness, active listening, and patience. As an educator, I want to create a safe learning environment for my students and make sure that my students know that I care about them. I also am Dyslexic, which has shown me the diverse needs of students in the classroom. I will be understanding and patient with students who struggle to learn in the traditional teacher-centered way that is seen in most public schools. I used to be an Environmental Science major, and have a strong passion for protecting the environment. I have been a vegetarian for four years, in an effort to reduce my ecological footprint. I am a STEM minor at Chapman, and my dream job would be to teach STEM either in a school setting or at an outdoor education school.
