In this position, I have enriched my expertise and enhanced my skillset by receiving comprehensive training in tracheotomy care. I have gained invaluable hands-on experience while providing dedicated support to a client managing a spinal injury and Prader-Willi syndrome. As a result of these conditions, I am adept at administering essential daily care tasks such as bowel management, medication administration, cough assist, suctioning, and personal care routines.

Being a healthcare assistant at Basildon Hospital has allowed me to further expand my skillset and knowledge in medical care.I am responsible for providing support to patients and their families during their admission. My day-to-day tasks can include:performing ECGsbladder scanspre/post oppatient assessments.Assisting patients with their personal care needs.Assisting nurses and other healthcare professionals with various procedures and treatments.Keeping accurate and up to date records of patent care and observations.Maintaining a clean and safe environment for patients, and ensuring that all equipment is in good working order.During my time at Basildon Hospital, I have developed strong communication and teamwork skills, as well as a deep understanding of the importance of patient-centred care. I am committed to providing the highest level of care possible to all patents, and I am always looking for ways to improve my skills and knowledge in order to better serve their needs.

Working with Hallmark provided more of a challenge due to some of the residents I provided care for, in particular, those with vascular dementia in which I have a personal connection to. However, I persevered through and ultimately have become stronger and more professional as well as managing my emotions.Furthermore, I have adapted to different peoples needs; created great relationships with residents (and their families); sat beside residents on end of life and provided essential care.

During my time at CCH, I became the main carer for a spinal injury package. Day to day life was challenging for him due to his autonomic dysreflexia from the breaks in T5 and T6.His care entailed bladder washouts; bowel care; monitoring glucose levels and obs for signs of AD flare ups as well as supporting any other requests.Unfortunately, the client contracted sepsis and thus lead to hospital admission where I continued to provide care but in a clinical setting - the ICU - during a COVID-19 outbreak too.Further expanding my skills, in addition to this package, I also provided care for a minor with cerebral palsy where I cleaned her tracheostomy and PEG tube in a sterile environment as well as assisting with suctioning.
