About the unit:The Violence against Women and Girls (VAWG) unit at Brighton & Hove City Council was established in April 2022 in response to the Domestic Abuse Act 2021. Councillor Steph Powell, co-chair of the Tourism, Equalities, Communities & Culture committee, announced the new team, stating, "This team will coordinate the city’s partnership approach to VAWG and response to the Domestic Abuse Act 2021…"Role and responsibilities:Supported and coordinated the development of projects in alignment with the unit’s and the Council’s strategic vision.Acted as the primary point of contact for project inquiries, facilitating timely communication via various channels.Identified and engaged with stakeholders and key partners within the community and relevant agencies related to domestic abuse and violence against women and girls (VAWG)Supported networks of local delivery providers, facilitating collaboration and providing administrative support.Maintain current knowledge of all relevant government and local government strategies pertaining to the field of domestic abuse and serve as a primary point of contact for information.Oversaw the change management process and the implementation of the handover of Multi Agency Risk Assessment Conference (MARAC) to Brighton and Hove.Due to recruitment gaps, assume the MARAC Coordinator responsibilities alongside my PSO role, which included the full administering of the weekly MARAC (Data entry, preparing agendas, producing accurate meeting minutes), maintaining confidential handling of case information, utilising the MARAC’s electronic case management system.
