About Grace Pardo

My research career and personal goal are to provide a better understanding of the development of neural circuits that underlie the mother-infant attachment and how this early-life relationship impacts the development of affective and social behaviors. I excel in communicating scientific findings with researchers and general audiences in different areas of knowledge, from cognitive psychology to cellular neuroscience. I am a frequent reviewer in physiology and neuroscience journals. I have regularly organized and chaired academic seminars on the maternal-infant relationship since 2017. I have extensively collaborated with experts in computational neuroscience to design and model neural circuits and explore specific questions or hypotheses within the psychobiological field. Research interests:• Psychobiology of the mother-infant attachment• Infant attachment learning• Early life experiences and their impact on affective and emotional development• Sensitive and critical periods in the development of brain and behavior• Prenatal and postnatal stress and infant´s health• Early experiences and neural circuits development• Neural mechanism of anxiety and depression • Computational neuroscience• Development and evolution of the cerebral cortexSkills:• An excellent understanding of basic and behavioral neuroscience and its research methods • Prior research experience in psychology, neuroscience, physiology, neuroendocrinology, computational neuroscience, or related disciplines• Ability in conducting independent research and strong problem-solving skills• Experience in designing experiments, project management, excellent data handling, and data analysis skills• Excellent written and oral communication skills, including teaching experience and presentations at scientific meetings, and the ability to work and interact effectively in a team environment with a diverse group of scientists • Experience in modeling and simulation in neuroscience• Highly developed self-motivation, high level of responsibility, and excellent interpersonal skills such as patience, determination, flexibility, and decisivenessPersonal Interests:• Mentoring• Reading• Traveling

Incorporation of Researchers, CONCYTEC - WORLD BANK Project(Proyecto Incorporación de Investigadores, Fondecyt-Banco Mundial)Laboratory of Luis Fernando Pacheco OtáloraThe study aims to evaluate the anxiolytic and antidepressant effects of a series of semisynthetic macamides in experimental rodent models of acute and chronic depression, as well as to identify the neurobiological mechanisms underlying these effects. The possible antidepressant effect of macamides is based on their ability to inhibit fatty acid amide hydrolase (FAAH), thus increasing the levels of endogenous cannabinoids, mainly anandamide.
