As a Veterinary Assistant, I am tasked with many things. I check in clients, handle animals being examined, run inventory of products and medications, clean, and otherwise assist the Doctor and my colleagues. I have learned many skills in this position, including bookkeeping, proper recording of inventory, and the ability to stay calm in high-pressure situations. This has been an incredibly valuable experience that I hope to continue through high school and college.

As an employee of Dairy Hill, my duties include taking orders and interfacing with customers, preparing food, cleaning, as well as counting money and checking inventory. My job requires me to provide excellent customer service, complete quick, accurate calculations, and deal with the stress of busy summer days at an ice cream shop. Being able to be part of a business that has been in my hometown for 60 years brings me great pride and I am very thankful. I hope to continue working at Dairy Hill through the rest of my high school and college careers.

As an Undergraduate Research Assistant, I assist in general tasks around the lab. The lab that I work in studies biotechnological applications of cyanobacteria and e.coli. My duties include making growing media for the bacteria, autoclaving said media and other materials (including biohazardous waste), pouring agar plates for bacteria growth and testing, and general laboratory cleanliness and organization. In the future, there will be opportunities for me to assist those working in the lab on their projects as well as start my own.

As a Peer Mentor, I serve 12 incoming freshman in the Lyman Briggs College, helping them adjust to college life, steering them toward helpful resources, and answering any questions they may have.
