I ride waves of all kinds and work with equal enthusiasm to improve communities. As the former President and Group Publisher of SC Biz News, I rode crests and pushed through headwinds of the business climate for 25 years to grow the corporation I oversaw into a portfolio of multiple influential titles. After a successful exit from the business and some "me time" for a good, old-fashioned summer of surf, I'm on to the next adventure.Now, as executive director of the Harbor Entrepreneur Center, I can focus my energy, experience and talent on creating an ever expanding ecosystem in which entrepreneurs in all stages of business can come together for a collision of ideas. An avid surfer who strives to ‘walk the talk’ of work, sustainability and conservation, I blend purpose with fun, nature and an innate sense of balance. After all the decades I've devoted to starting and running businesses, I can truly say I've learned a lot the hard way, by making some awful mistakes. I can also say I've learned a lot the easy way by surrounding myself with staff and colleagues way smarter than me. As we think about preserving nature and enhancing the financial well-being of our communities, I believe the most extraordinary innovations will happen at the intersection of business and conservation.
