Solutions Manager

Current

Returning to my previous role following the takeover of Critiqom by Opus Trust Communications. Key responsibilities: -* Service Delivery: Technology and Postage* Technical Change Leader* Solution Design and Implementation

Jan 2020 - Present

Head Of It (Stand-In)

This is the 3rd time standing-in in this role, carrying it out concurrently on this occasion with the Solutions Manager role. I focus on agreeing strategic objectives with the others in the management team, devising appropriate projects to accomplish those objectives, and building teams to effectively deliver. Instrumental in budgeting discussions for the department. One key focus at present is reviewing the service designs as the services changes, particularly continuity and security requirements, and in 2019 we expect to deliver additional layers of resilience in our systems, and external standards and accreditation. I chair the change advisory board, and we use this as an important tool to ensure we deliver the main priorities for the business, identify and resolve problems quickly and control transitions of all projects. However we do do engage in a wide range of projects at all levels and have a very high appetite for change - we delegate where we can and home in on the risk points as needed.

Apr 2018 - Jan 2020

Solutions Manager

I continue to focus on developing business-wide solutions and novel approaches to deliver new service options to meet and improve customer value. Much of this effort is in streamlining communication and ease of workflow between individuals, teams and departments. I brought all systems into a control register linked to suppliers, service offerings and making it simpler to assess risk and SLA on any given service. One key development at this time was the introductions of a workflow tool that I developed, to control our internal Annual Billing processes (an industry-specific period of high intensity work, specifically oriented to Local Government). This system streamlined communications, and automated multiple manual steps allowing quick focus on the risk areas and freeing a huge amount of time across the business.

Apr 2015 - Apr 2018

It Project Leader

During this period I started leading projects, forming teams, and directing the way projects should be carried out, monitoring and removing blockages. I had created a format for project control, and development standards, that in particular allowed different solutions to use the same framework and report in the same manner which laid the groundwork for (then) future automation and MI provision - these were made reality in the following years.I also continued to develop solutions myself, and started working more closely with external parties, and there were two significant developments for the business during this period.Firstly, we moved our technical platform from PReS to GMC. I worked very closely with the supplier to understand and implement the technologies, then designed and implemented the architecture of all component parts and interfaces. We were very careful to ensure there was a standardised format used throughout, that typical configuration choices were implemented in an easy-access manner, and there was room for expansion. The standardised template I created required only minor customisation to be effective. These measures allowed easy training and use, easy management of files (splitting and merging etc), and simple interfaces with automation, MI, and our bespoke DSA sortation tool (primepost).Secondly, I worked with 3rd party specialists to create and integrate an Information Security Management System within the business which was successfully accredited to ISO27001 standard.

Apr 2012 - Apr 2015

Software Engineer

At this point I stepped out of the technical team to focus on delivering bespoke solutions and integrating 3rd party tools. Technically, we switched from MySQL to MSSQL and continued to use Visual Studio - Visual Basic and C#I created several important control systems and overhauled many older systems as part of an upgrade programme. One key development at this time was the introduction of a new MIS control system, and I wrote important interfaces to link the MIS system to the technical controls, to input into MIS from the processed files, and to transition to the production teams.
