Process Engineering & Design Consultancy Services - Oil & Gas.

Pre-FEED work for a produced water debottlenecking project in Egypt.I developed a field-wide control narrative, carried out flare & blowdown assessment for integration of new equipment into existing plant, and led a small team of process engineers on discrete workscopes within the West Qurna Expansion FEED Project; a US$ 1.5bn programme of debottlenecking & expansion workscopes for the West Qurna 1 field and North Rumaila NGL Plant.I provided detailed technical assurance support for the Ar-Ratawi NGL Plant FEED, a multi-billion US$ greenfield project in Southern Iraq. This included reviewing FEED contractor deliverables to ensure compliance with project design basis, company design & safety standards, and industry standards, and acting as the Client (Shell/BGC) representative at P&ID & HAZOP reviews at the Contractor office.I designed a complex cooling water system, with associated heat exchangers & safety systems, and mercury removal facilities for the Linnorm HP/HT subsea tieback to Draugen. Project value approximately US$1bn.I have also carried out multiple conceptual studies on a range of facilities, including the Bende M'Bassou Early Production System, Koula Sand Management Study for Shell Gabon, extended recovery feasibility & concept selection for the Shearwater platform, and a study on plant turndown capability for the Gannet platform.

I carried out process engineering for the detailed design phase of the project to tie the new Forties Alpha Satellite Platform to the existing Forties Alpha, including steady state & dynamic plant simulations, modification of control & operation and ESD philosophies, and generating/checking a variety of process engineering deliverables.

I carried out process engineering & design for the Apache Forties Gas Lift Debottlenecking Upgrade project. I previously worked as the Process focal point on the Brae Alpha Powergen Upgrade project, as well as a number of smaller facilities modification & upgrade projects, as part of the Petrofac engineering team working for Marathon Oil UK.

I joined Merpro as a Senior Process Engineer, and carried out all process engineering functions on a number of sand management & produced water treatment projects, primarily for North Sea clients. I was soon promoted to Lead Process Engineer, where I became responsible for all process engineering functions, producing deliverables, and generating manhour estimates for projects, as well as managing the members of the Projects Process team.Some project examples are:Hunterston ‘A’ Modular Active Effluent Treatment PlantLead Process Engineer during factory test at Merpro premises. Liaised with Client commissioning engineers to ensure satisfactory performance of the package, and to identify & resolve technical issues experienced during performance test. Provided support on-site after package installation at Hunterston. Designed & ran tests to simulate operating scenarios.Maersk Oil Qatar – Al-Shaheen Field Development – Sand Handling PackagesLead Process Engineer during design & manufacture of on-line sand removal packages for five newbuild platforms in the Al-Shaheen field development. Attended HAZOP & Projectmeetings at Client premises, coordinated & approved technical responses to action points.Statoil/Aker Kvaerner Gjøa Project – Produced Water Treatment PackagesLead Process Engineer during design & manufacture of Hydrocyclone PWT packages. I ensured that the design met Statoil & Norsok requirements. Attended HAZOP & project meetings, and coordinated & approved technical responses to action points.

I joined WLGE as a graduate Process Engineer. During my time I gained experience in a number of aspects of process engineering, including: carrying out detailed plant sizing calculations for LPG storage & transportation (including sizing pumps, compressors, process lines, firewater deluge systems & relief valves); preparing & checking P&IDs, PFDs, and Heat & Mass Balances; evaluating vendor quotations; preparing commissioning & gas trials procedures & reports, and carrying out performance testing & evaluation of installed process plant. I also gained valuable experience in meeting & dealing with Notified Bodies (e.g. Lloyd's Register, Bureau Veritas) and Clients from a variety of different countries & cultures.During the year I spent as a Project Engineer, I was responsible for preparing project execution plans & progress reports, commercially evaluating vendor quotations, and maintaining control of capital and manhour expenditure. I was also responsible for co-ordinating correspondence with the Client, attending meetings with the Client, and I deputised for the Project Manager as & when required.
