As part of the Barratt Engineering team, I assist in the coordination of various civil engineering elements necessary to successfully deliver new housing developments. Typically my involvement will range from the pre construction phase through to handover. On a daily basis, I brief and manage external consultants, aid in obtaining various technical approvals & consents, and also support site teams with day to day Engineering queries.

Working within the Development Engineering team, I have been involved in the design and delivery of infrastructure works of varying scale and degree, over a variety of multidiscliplinary projects across the UK. My role has so far involved office based design, regular client contact, on-site support, out of office support to other AECOM offices, and secondment to Stirling Council.

As a Graduate Engineer at PFA Consulting I was involved in a variety of infrastructure projects, from small scale drainage designs to Flood Risk Assessments, drainage strategies for large scale developments, the preparation of Environment Statement Chapters, highway & junction design. In the role I was responsible for the grading, sorting and processing of various bought metals for the purpose of recycling and reuse. In achieving this, I have become proficient in the use of various machinery and vehicles. I interacted face to face with customers on a daily basis, and was also trusted regularly with the transportation of large sums of money. Also, the post allowed me to have hands on experience with various forms of design software, at the same time giving me confidence in their application and boosting my computing skills above the standard realms of Microsoft office suite.Further to working with colleagues, I was also given the opportunity to have experience dealing with various contractors and architects, maintaining and developing a professional dialogue with each of the parties. The exchanges often positioned me in a support role, allowing me to offer advice and guidance on various design features of projects worked upon.Overall I believe that this experience has given me an understanding of the working application of engineering principals in relation to projects of varying size, and an appreciation of the design and construction process.
