I’m responsible for the upkeep and conservation of Wytham Abbey, which was built in phases between ~1500 and ~1825, and listed at Grade I in 1952. I work closely with contractors, buildings historians, specialist surveyors and the planning authorities. As well as drawing strongly on my management, writing, presentation and organisational experience, I’ve developed valuable new skills in historic conservation, both in commissioning and overseeing specialist consultancy, and through my studies at Oxford Brookes. Insall Associates have established a new hierarchy of heritage significance for the building, as well as a phase plan, for this “irregular, much-altered” house. I've also written and presented several public talks on the Abbey, one of which draws out the connections between the building and Stewart Brand’s "How Buildings Learn".

Independent contracting for clients including Battersea Power Station Development Company.

I founded Trim with no direct experience of the trades, and the business had two phases under my ownership: until 2015, I built up a strong, mainly residential client base in south London. Post-2015, I added a strong base of much larger, mainly commercial, projects in central London. The approach to providing a rounded service characterised by strong, reliable communication continues under the ownership of David Ramsay, who took over the business in 2019.

I established Viadeo's business school directory in the UK in early 2009 and managed clients including London Business School and Henley Business School.

I acquired and managed the contracts for j4b's grants information service, which was licensed to clients in the public and private sectors.
