Applied towards mammalian CNS development, Schizophrenia, Depression and Huntington’s Disease research.Promoted to Research Assistant from a Postdoctoral Fellow as result of continuous research successSupervised and directed research projects for graduate and medical students. Involved in the writing of grants and reviewed manuscript submissions. Developed extremely sensitive and specific biochemical assays for quantitative measurement of ligand-receptor binding and intracellular signal transduction pathways. Expertise gained through stereotactic microinjection of molecules into specific areas of transgenic mice brains to investigate the role of neurotrophins in neuronal survival and connectivity using novel in vivo assays. Conducted new methodologies: ribonuclease protections assays, apoptosis assays (TUNEL), animal surgery, brain dissections, Western blot analysis, immunoprecipitation, immunohistochemistry, immunocytochemistry, ELISA, fluorescence microscopy, stereotactic delivery and neuroanatomical tracing techniques, transfection of cultured cells.
