I teach Introduction to Data Processing and Visualization Design in R, a graduate-level course at the University of Washington. Below is the course syllabus. I help clients develop strategy and evaluate programs/projects through analysis of data. I use machine learning as well as more traditional approaches to data analysis in my work. In addition to other software and tools, I use the following regularly: R, Python, SQL, Tableau, ArcGIS, Survey Monkey, and SurveyGizmo.My clients predominantly come from the education sector. On recent projects, I have evaluated and built forecasts, solved missing data problems, built dashboards and automated production of those dashboards, managed databases, designed evaluation methodologies for grant-funded education programs, and performed geospatial analyses.

I used the following software and tools at EOS: R, Tableau, SSMS, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, AWS, and Qualtrics. I helped high schools across the country (a) identify and enroll underserved students in Advanced Placement and International Baccalaureate courses. I used a wide range of statistical methods to identify students for AP/IB enrollment and to assess the barriers they encountered as students from marginalized backgrounds. I also helped develop strategy and consensus around data management and goal evaluation for the Lead Higher Initiative, a consortium established to realize the promise of the White House’s My Brother’s Keeper initiative. Examples of my work at EOS include: advised and managed data sharing partnerships, developed and recommended tools and methodologies for analyses, built predictive models used to estimate likelihood of enrollment in AP/IB courses, analyzed the impact of non-cognitive assets (grit, growth mindset, belonging, etc.) on key student outcomes, and evaluated AP/IB enrollment strategy outcomes for high schools and school districts.
