I have run engineers remotely for the last 12 years, most recently with a team in Pakistan, but I have employed people in Brazil, Portugal, India and El Salvador.ConsultancyI have personally delivered multiple projects to CTBTO, a department within the UN in Vienna. I have also delivered a sizeable deliverable to Magellan GPS.TechnologiesOur latest software is built using Xamarin to support PC, macOS, iOS and Android. All four platforms share one mapping component built on top of Monogame giving us cross platform sharing of code.The backend is supported on Azure for the SQL database and webservice. I was head hunted by AIG to raise their profile in the exotic currency options market. This was a big step up. I was 25. A much larger risk limit, global responsibility for all Exotic Currency Option books and whilst an amazing set of customers to work with I had access to much less infrastructure in the form of support tools and pricing algorithm research. A lot more rested on my shoulders compared to Paribas.An amazing opportunity, but my head was turning towards what was happening in Silicon Valley. I resigned in 2000 with ideas to start a tech business, but my bosses persuaded (£) me to stay another nine months and train my replacement.

I joined the Graduate Training programme within the IT department. My first placement was on the FX Options risk management system. I very quickly became the bridge between IT, the mathematical quants within the research teams and the trading desk. I never made it to my second rotation on the Graduate program.Spending time on the vanilla options trading desk, I realized I could produce tools to facilitate much better pricing of Exotic Currency Options. I wrote tools and spreadsheets outside of the confines of the IT department which led to my regular summoning to the trading desk to help with the pricing of structures.The obvious progression was to the trading desk, via a quick rotation through the Spot desk followed by the Swaps desk, Vanilla options desk, and then to Exotic Currency Options.I ran the ERM Exotic Currency Options books, but with the Euro coming, it made sense to move on.I was based in London, but I did multiple trips to Singapore and New York to cover when other senior traders were away.
