Developing the capabilities of the department's new moving platform simulator. This included further integration testing of IPG CarMaker and internal vehicle dynamics models.

Developed a system level approach for parameterising RADAR models suitable for ADAS testing. Initially proven in simulation prior to physical testing through a bespoke rig comprising NI hardware and LabView software with post processing in MATLAB. Parameterisation completed through an optimisation process written in MATLAB with IPG CarMaker in the optimisation loop.Performed a parameter study for platooning using IPG CarMaker for Simulink. I developed a drag adjustment model for platooning in Simulink that was compiled into CarMaker and then used the IPG SimNet tool to perform multiple Ego vehicle simulations. Parameters studied included traffic density with a purpose designed velocity profile, target separation distance and initial state of charge. This work was presented at the PMC Conference 2022.Performed initial commissioning of the upgraded Cruden moving platform simulator. Undertook initial platform sensitivity studies, CarMaker integration and Simulink model development.Demonstrated an approach to take a FE model of a chassis, identify the key modes and implement them in the IPG CarMaker FlexBody model.

Working in the IT Department I assisted with the development of the in-house motion tracking software, and updated the change management documents as part of the compliance scheme.

Research And Technology Planning

Assisted in the completion of a multi-year Framework 4 funded project developing a simulation tool for alternative powertrains. This included the creation of vehicle and simulation wizards and a simplified integration function to undertake straightline performance analysis. As a junior member of the team, I conducted desk-based research on alternative powertrains that enabled senior members to create a forecast for MY2010. I applied my new software skills to the completion of the department Y2K audit, and then designed and implemented an automated web-based reporting tool.
