I am a graduate of Southern Illinois University Carbondale with a degree in Journalism focusing on New Media Production. My original intent was a teaching career, and I spent earlier years working with that goal in mind. This helped me develop listening, collaborative, problem-solving and leadership skills. Eventually realizing my passion for teaching was surpassed by online media, my focus shifted to that trajectory. My interest for online media and writing began as soon as I could navigate a computer. As a youth I loved imagining and writing my own narrative stories and especially devouring the latest information about the next "greatest" video game. Working at SIU's newspaper, The Daily Egyptian, helped harness real-world publication experience and further cemented my enthusiasm and drive for online media. This enhanced my ability to deal with deadlines, communicate effectively with the team and management while becoming a more effective writer. I also expanded into exciting new territory such as podcasting and production. Ultimately, I hope to jump start my career finding a job working for a company where I can learn and grow as a person, be challenged, and fulfill or exceed at what is asked of me.A website I built featuring my work while employed at the Daily Egyptian and other side projects can be found below.
