As a part of the Coral Propagation Team (CPT), I provide care for mesophotic and deep coral species collected from the Gulf of Mexico in support of the Mesophotic and Deep Benthic Community (MDBC) Restoration project. We are tasked with investigating methods and approaches to better rehabilitate the benthic communities that were injured as a result of the 2010 Deepwater Horizon oil spill.

Utilizes technical knowledge to ensure water quality data collection instruments are ready for use in both lab and field settings. Performs fieldwork in support of toxicology studies by collecting both abiotic and biological data, specimens, and observations. Prepares and maintains marine aquaria and organisms for use in toxicological exposures. Safely operates small boats. Performs bioassays, extractions, and various analyses of samples in support of marine science research.

Facilitated and participated in AAUS scientific diving operations in nearshore and coastal waterways of the south Florida region in support of benthic ecological surveys, health assessments, habitat characterizations, and coral relocation services. Operated small boats up to 30' LOA, performed 'live-boating' dive operations and maintained small boats and trailers.

Conduct underwater infrastructure inspections and repairs, as well as new construction. Provide clients with detailed reports of underwater structures. Respond to emergency calls to clear tug props, debris clearing, inspections, and repairs. Customers frequently include but not limited to power companies, municipal water providers, USACE, city governments, state DOT, NAVFAC, and railway industries.

Conducting the 'Grasses in Classes' program implemented by the Choctawhatchee Basin Alliance in over 20 elementary schools across Walton and Okaloosa counties of NW Florida. 'Grasses in Classes' raises awareness about our coastal ecosystems and gets young minds involved in the hands-on restoration of our bay/bayou coastlines and waterways.Frequently participating in community outreach, volunteering for local events, and spreading awareness about the CBA's multiple missions is also part of this job.
