The Project encompasses two UK Data Centres. Potential relocation approaches under consideration being Lift and Shift [L&S], Physical to Virtual (P2V), full Migration, Virtual to Virtual (V2V) and Physical to Physical (P2P). Testing scope encompasses ~118 business application / service being relocated, physical infrastructure testing [racks, cabling, power, cooling ...etc], connectivity testing [fibre, copper, switches, storage], ‘Spare’ testing [‘Spares’ used as hardware failure mitigation] and all pre- and post- business application / service relocation testing. My role initially is to get a common agreement on roles and responsibilities through the production of a test approach. -

In the latterly half of this period managed the transition of support for OOD [Oracle on Demand] test environments from one 3rd party to another [Infosys to Wipro]. Wipro team were new to VF, so this was a very active day or day handholding exercise.[+ ~3 months Dec 2011 – Feb 2012] Subsequently created a NewCo Oracle Stack Disaster Recovery Test Approach [draft], an Oracle MediationZone Disaster Recovery Test Plan [Rel 0.1b] and a NewCo Oracle ASAP Disaster Recovery Test Plan [all documents are currently inflight and undergoing ongoing review and updates]. [~8 months April 2011 – Nov 2011] MediationZone Rel 0.1b NewCo Project: Mediation platform replacement project [multiple rereleases] using DigitalRoute’s MediationZone platform to replace legacy data mediation processing. Introduced a ‘operational baseline’/’known workload’ approach to Operational Acceptance Testing for Vodafone / the NewCo programme while test managing this release [approach now adopted by 3rd party responsible for release 0.1]. -

Senior Test EngineerVodafone 1998 - 2002I joined Vodafone Ltd’s Commercial Applications Independent Test Team [CAITT] as a Senior Test Engineer. In the latter part of this period I was seconded to work with the BAT (Business Acceptance Test) team working on Billing-2 integration testing.Both team’s focus was to independently test Vodafone’s Wholesale Billing [Unibill], Mediation [BMD], Distribution [Transfers] and inbound TAP [TVR] systems, across system boundaries [integration testing], and when required undertake limited operational performance testing.I produced test strategies, test coverage plans, test data and regression test packs which would be rolled forward for use on subsequent product releases.I created a set of team menus/utilities (Unix based and PC based) to provide the team with the ability to access more easily/quickly the many test users/environments used to progress testing and to simplify repetitive tasks [these menus/utilities have been utilised to the present day].I was involved in the evaluation automatic testing tools.I vigorously pushed for greater team involvement in the Change Control Process and the adoption of minimum standards for code deliveries by development teams and set up a basic TQM framework for the test team.Please see ‘Other Recommendations’ in my Box.Net File archive:'2002-08 - By Janet Williams.pdf’.'2002-04 - By Steve Castle.pdf’. -
Senior Test AnalystBritish Telecom Sep 1996 - Apr 1998I joined BT’s Integrated Customer Information Programme (ICIP) in September 1996 as a member of the VV&T (Verification, Validation and Test) team as a Senior System Tester (Senior Test Analyst). The project’s overall goal was to support both BT Marketing and BT Sales initiatives by enabling better segmentation and targeting of customer groups, permitting Direct Mail and Telesales campaigns to be more responsive, better targeted and allowing far shorter marketing campaign lifecycles. Response data was also processed to enable campaign effectiveness measures to be obtained for feedback to BT marketing and BT Sales. Pyramid hardware and Oracle 7 software was employed on the project, although Sun UNIX boxes and a Whitecross platform were also utilised. The project’s Oracle database (Data Warehouse) was probably be the largest Oracle Database in the world at that time, in was in the order of 12-15 terabytesI was engaged across a number of workstreams, contributing to test plans, creating test designs/test cases, and undertaking testing management and the production of test summaries for sign off by customer groups. Due to a project re-organisation, I moved from a VV&T System Tester role to UNIX/Oracle developer function, working on Data Feeds processing for the Segmentation and Targeting workstream.During this period I worked Swindon, Cardiff and London. -
Mvs/Db2 Database AdministratorBritish Telecom Jun 1995 - Sep 1996I was invited to join BT’s Billing 90/OMS project in June 1995 as a MVS/DB2 Database Administrator - a newly established DBA team in Cardiff. This move required that I worked 2-3 days per week in Cardiff, spending the remainder of the week working remotely in Swindon.The main task of the DBA team at that time was to help repatriate all development (including DBA activities) from IBM, North Harbour to BT's own IT personnel in Cardiff. I was one of a team of 6 DBAs who had responsibility for approx. 20 DB environments, across 2 physical (4 logical) DB2 subsystems, each environment having around 200 objects. Each of these environments was required to support approx. 3 code/schema releases at any one time. I contributed to all aspects of the team workload.The Database for this project was considered to be the biggest MVS/DB2 production database in the world at that time (approx. 15 terabytes).During this period I worked in Cardiff, Swindon and on occasions London. -
Application DeveloperBritish Telecom Aug 1992 - Jun 1995I moved to BT’s the Swindon Development group to gain a greater experience of software development and joined an applications development team working on procurement and logistics projects.The main project I contributed to in this period was the Automation of the Authority to Pay (AATP). The hardware / software platforms used were; IBM 3090 600E (MVS/ESA), with the application running on COBOL / CICS / DB2(2.2), with CICS running under BT Middleware, and of course batch COBOL/DB2. The AATP project consists of approximately 60 screen maps and ~45,000 lines of code. Most reporting requirements are in addition to these stated figures. The project's overall goal was to:- Automatically authorise supplier invoices captured on to the Information Warehouse (manually and via EDI)- Automatically matching of invoices against the goods received (GRNs) and the original Purchase Instructions to Delivery (PIDs)- Apply any exceptional payment terms to the invoice (prepayments, retentions, recoveries, discount etc) - Format authorised invoices for a nightly feed to the payment application DBS/AP at Manchester- Support feeds to applications such as BT's General Ledger system (for accruals) and C&E for VAT purposes was also developed.I was involved in all stages of the application development from requirements capture, logical & physical design, program specification, coding, testing (unit, system/interface, transaction and customer acceptance testing support).
