It is a unique scheme not so much in design but in the constraints of the site and location. Key areas of challenges are acoustics and with the hotel having three basement areas this caused complex issues of design as to not disturb the new underground tunnel. My areas of responsibility were mainly structural with some M & E development. My time was largely spent developing the sections and understanding the key areas of conflict with the file caps at an early stage as we took the project over whilst the pile foundations were being completed. The first stage of planning has been approved and currently in design development for a Stage D issue in mid October 2005.Arsenal Emirates Stadium – Stage KProject value: £450 millionContract Type : Design and BuildThis project is the new home for Arsenal FC. My key area was to cover all vertical circulation routes and access. Working part of a 30 strong team to deliver a fantastic modern era stadium..My stint was relatively short but offered the chance to do some detailing yet sufficient time to understand the Arsenal history and progress of what is an impressive stadium. Completion: April 2006Wembley Arena – Stage D-KProject value: £26 millionContract Type: Design & BuildThis building is synonymous with all the music legends. The brief was to bring the Arena into the modern era yet maintain its Grade II architectural features. This sort of project challenged every level, from client liason, contact administration, to managing the unknowns an existing building brings to any refurbishment and modernization project. It was Wembley which was trial by fire and by which I learned operational issues and working with a developer like Quintain Estates. The Arena is only remaining building within the whole Wembley masterplan development and serves as the centre piece of public space with Arena Square adjacent to the new Wembley Stadium. Project completed in March 2006. Show less
