As Managing Director I was involved in networking, strategic planning, vision casting, member care, public relations, liaising with government, lobbying for legislation, and international statesmanship. All in cross-cultural context. 400 foreign workers in the coalition, along with thousands of local staff. The results of building out a healthy ecosystem were incredible. Unity and camaraderie increased. Duplication of efforts increased. Pace of new initiatives increased. Multiple governmental laws and decisions were implemented. I also served on board of the emerging 'VUSH' which took over AEP's mantle of representation. Efforts in those transitional days set the stage for a transforming of the national perception of this faith community - leading to official acceptance as a historic Albanian religion. This had dramatic impact at a social and political (and geo-political) level. Both the AEP and VUSH ecosystems continue to this day, a testament to the durability of the ecosystems we created.
