Grant Young joins the Iowa 4-H Foundation in a new position as Development Officer where his primary role is reaching out to folks to learn what they love most about 4-H, why they give and provide exciting updates about the program and the Foundation. The former Lyon King 4-H Club member and Hamilton County native showed pigs, made baseball jerseys and other creative projects for the county fair as a 4-Her. He credits his time spent in 4-H sparking interests that led to a career in making a difference in the community.Before joining the Foundation, Grant spent over 20 years in the public affairs industry where he was described by The Des Moines Register as “the dean of field organizers.” Young studied at North Iowa Area Community College, University of Iowa, and is the founder of Stanhope State University. He and his wife Meggie reside in the Beaverdale Neighborhood in Des Moines with their dog, Bear.
