In my latest role, I ride aboard tour boats sailing around Boston Harbor, and tell passengers from all over the world about everything they can see. Topics include colonial and revolutionary war events like the Boston Tea Party and Paul Revere's Ride, important structures like Long Wharf and the Charlestown Navy Yard, and unique activities in the harbor like the sailing of the USS Constitution and modern day ship traffic.

My goal is to move clients from their current skill set as a presenter and public speaker to where they want to be. In addition, I create and deliver presentations for small – to – large groups that educate, motivate and inspire! As a live narrator using the public address system aboard 90-minute cruises of Boston Harbor, I shared the history of Boston and America by telling facts and stories — all from memory — about the landmarks and historical sites we passed en route. My specialty is making history come alive — like visualizing the two lanterns in the Old North Church steeple that sent Paul Revere on his famous ride on the night of April 18, 1776 to warn residents of the advancing British soldiers on their way to Lexington and Concord at the start of the American Revolution. As a storyteller, I would weave together how Boston grew as a seaport, from the placement of the first lighthouse off the North American coast — Boston Light, 1716 — to the present day, bringing in both container ships and passenger cruise ships that tower over nearby buildings. Passenger comments included, “I understood EVERY word!” and, “Best narration by far of all the tours I’ve taken.”

I served as a member of several networking groups including those in Acton, Burlington, Devens, Lawrence, Leominster and Westford, MA. and Manchester, NH. Often I facilitated weekly meetings for 60 or more attendees, created and delivered topical presentations and training sessions, and participated on leadership teams in roles including treasurer, group leader, and facilitator/coach. I have received many compliments on my presentation style, audience engagement, and ability to guide the meeting smoothly from start to finish while keeping the overall tone positive and upbeat. My proudest accomplishment is coaching others to improve their own presentation skills, with sometimes remarkable results in a very short time. It is an honor to help others succeed, and I continue to hone my own presentation and facilitation skills in the process.

I returned to a role I loved -- planning and executing executive briefings, bringing together customers, their sales team, company executives, and subject matter experts to strengthen business relationships, discover innovative solutions and grow our businesses together. During this time I increased activity more than 30% over the previous 12 month period.In addition I made substantial contributions to the redesign of the new Executive Briefing Center, tripling the capacity to facilitate and support these meetings in a comprehensive, self-contained space right off the main entrance at corporate headquarters. Our new Executive Briefing Center opened in April 2011, and has already served customers from Europe, Asia, Africa, North and South America.

Assistant Store Manager, Kittery ME (2003-2004) and Reading, MA (2004 to 2008)Provided engaging customer interactions and managed day-to-day business operations, implementing operational strategies and merchandising programs, introducing new products and training staff. While recruiting new staff members I would demonstrate how to create engaging interactions with customers that would pleasantly surprise and delight them, especially with the theater show and customized product demonstrations. Building a team with a positive, customer-focused attitude helped me bring over $12M in revenues to the company. Among special events, I led the Bose In-Harmony-With-Education Program, teaching over 250 middle school students about the science of sound, and initiated the Bose Sound Seminars later deployed in over 130 stores nationwide, presenting more than 25 to my own in-store audiences. I’m especially proud of creating a daily pre-opening meeting with all staff, which soon became a company best practice.

(Simultaneous short-term assignment at Bose Corporate Headquarters)To improve communications and customer experiences in all international retail sales offices, I created and distributed a bi-weekly electronic newsletter to consistently deliver time-sensitive news, enabling country managers to more effectively communicate to their stores throughout their region.Also I documented and distributed to Country Managers a series of new presentation and training programs to be deployed worldwide.In addition I managed the international visit program, standardizing the process for India Super Achievers, facilitating on-site training and nationwide deployment to support US stores.

(Formerly the Hewlett-Packard Medical Products Group)Following years of marketing communications and trade show roles with exposure to all products and levels of management, I accepted responsibility for the worldwide briefing center for the Healthcare Solutions Group, representing 14 different medical environments across six divisions, and serving over 1600 visitors annually. I managed a $450,000 operational budget, created operations plans, developed performance metrics, and reported all activity to its key stakeholders.During this time I planned and hosted 72 international customer visits and sales events, recruited technical support to maintain demonstration equipment at 100% uptime, and increased usage more than 58% in my first two years.

First at the division level and later at the group level, I planned and managed multi-division trade shows up to 5,000 square feet, including on-site setup and dismantle. In addition, I also designed and implemented an electronic lead management system that reduced data capture errors to less than 1%, and managed the sales lead process to fulfill requests and generate sales lead reports.

At the division level I wrote and produced brochures and catalogs, and managed direct mail campaigns and advertising programs. My favorite role was running the Stetho-Clinic at major trade shows, meeting doctors from around the world and handing out new parts as needed to keep their HP cardiology stethoscopes performing at their best! It was such a successful program, doctors routinely would come looking for it!
