I controlled the production of web content for the Research Center. Our primary goal was to influence all academic departments on Potsdam campus to engage in undergraduate research. Upon completion, 17 of 18 academic departments had conducted undergraduate research; an increase in 8 departments. Responsibilities and skills developed:• Production of video material, social media sites, news releases, brochures, and presentations. • Strong working abilities of multimedia production/editing, and keeping relevant with open-source softwares to maximize work.• Editing and updating the Center’s website on a weekly basis while expanding my HTML and CSS knowledge. • Effectively used social media sites (facebook/instagram/internet) for promotion.• Organized and instructed grant writing workshops for researchers.• Effectively geared my communication skills to target audiences. • Served as an office administrator during regular weekly office hours, to answer all questions via phone, Internet, or walk-in.

Potsdam, New York

I interned with Calvin Smith, SUNY Potsdam’s Director of Environmental Health & Safety, to gain knowledge in policy writing, structure, form, large-scale proofreading/editing methods, and the overall policy composition process. Completion resulted in a campus Fork Lift Operation safety policy and Standard Operating Procedure manual; both of which are still in use on SUNY Potsdam campus today. Responsibilities and skills developed:• Organized and conducted hazard analysis interviews with 30 different SUNY Potsdam Physical Plant employees.• Researched various job titles prior to interviews to establish personal relationships with my audiences. • Developed templates using Microsoft Office to document, organize, and file interview data for long-term use.• Studied OSHA regulations/guidelines in accordance to data to develop policy discourse.• Effectively edited and proofread previous campus policies to accommodate technological and/or regulatory changes.• Learned the importance of workplace communication and relationships, in regards to health, safety, and overall work atmosphere. • Fine-tuned my Microsoft Office abilities, while learning to use the program as an entire software; not just a word processor.
