I have worked on the cognitive challenges faced during the effective integration of humans with machines. The work entails various human factor issues related to the autonomous systems, where I have been looking into trust, transparency, individual differences, and workload. My deep interest lies in the understanding usage of technology for augmenting cognition such as virtual reality. I have been working on the development of a cognitive model for spatial navigation through a series of experimentation assessed via psychophysiological recording. Also, I am keen to learn new approaches to uncover the determinants of a particular cognitive event.Experimental design in immersive virtual reality using Unity, wireless joystick, oculus-rift.Data acquisition through NEXUS-10 (ERP), EMOTIV EPOC (EEG), BIOPAC-MP-150 (EEG, ECG, GSR), ANT-EEGO SPORTS (64 channels), Arrington research (Eye mounted) and Eye Tribe (Desktop mounted).Data analysis through R, MATLAB, EEGLAB, SFIT, s-loreta, Brainnet viewer, EEG-NET toolbox, SPSS.Rich experience of collecting psychological data and analysis (BVMT, SODS, BADS, Harvard-MR).Society: SILC, FENS.
Research Scientist
My focus is to develop human performance model using thorough experimentation and computer simulations. I have been learning tools which can bring closer to achieve my objective. The applied cognition module can be successfully implemented to various range of people with different job profiles such as defence sector to rehabilitation sector.I attempt to inculcate innovation in the methodology following ergonomics challenges to attain optimal performance. My present work is focused on the development of situational awareness modules in a camouflage context.

Title: Performance evaluation in navigation through psychophysiological assessmentSpatial navigation is a complex multisensory process in which information is assimilated and maneuvered over space and time. Empirical evidence claimed individual differences in the navigational ability, drawing out causes of differences in three interdependent domains: cognitive factors, neural information processing, and variability in brain connectivity. Many attempts have been made to bring together these seemingly different domains. However, lack of a systematic and holistic approach to combine all the three domains together to observe the causes for such differences has been the driving force in conducting the present research work. This study provides systematic method to look into the various factors influencing navigational abilities and corresponding changes in the neural connections. To understand the effects of these factors on spatial navigation, few variables are selected to gauge the differences in the aforementioned domains between people with more and less navigational ability under certain conditions using the strength of computational and signal processing techniques. Four experiments are performed to understand variations in the performance while navigating with simultaneous psychophysiological recordings. These experiments include the effect of spatial learning perspective and landmarks in the performance, on one hand, and drawing out individual differences for the basic cognitive processes and brain connectivity , on the other, during navigation.

I have been working on the development of a cognitive model for spatial navigation through a series of experimentation assessed via psychophysiological recording. Meanwhile, I also learned various signal processing techniques and underlying principles of spatial cognition, especially mental rotation. Moreover, I strongly support the paradigm shift in the existing methods of psychological assessment and education procedures. Virtual reality can be proven as a valuable support. On the similar line, I have developed cognitive test battery in virtual reality to promote the ecological validity of a test. Finally, tools such as machine learning and big data analytics could be used to understand the evolving nature of the human mind which always lies in the future scope of my research work.Experimental design in immersive virtual reality using Unity, wireless joystick, oculus-rift.Data acquisition through NEXUS-10 (ERP), EMOTIV EPOC (EEG), BIOPAC-MP-150 (EEG, ECG, GSR), ANT-EEGO SPORTS (64 channels), Arrington research (Eye mounted) and Eye Tribe (Desktop mounted).Data analysis through R, MATLAB, EEGLAB, SFIT, s-loreta, Brainnet viewer, EEG-NET toolbox, SPSS.Rich experience of collecting psychological data and analysis (BVMT, SODS, BADS, Harvard-MR).Society: SILC, FENS.
