I supported efforts to grow employee philanthropy in local State and Federal agencies, I managed the Capital Area State Employee Charitable Campaign (SECC) and Central Texas Combined Federal Campaign (CFC).

In my work as a Development Officer, I managed relationships for some of United Way’s top supporters among Austin corporations, such as IBM and H-E-B. Acting as one of United Way’s primary representatives to community relations staff and corporate executives, my role required that I partner with key United Way staff to carry out volunteer projects, as well as employee and corporate giving opportunities for these companies. One of my primary responsibilities was to be a resource to workplace giving coordinators, advising and helping execute high quality employee giving campaigns. I enjoyed working with important United Way volunteers to develop companies’ support. United Way holds a privileged position in the community, and is working with partners throughout the community to develop new and innovative ways to help people in need; I was proud to represent the organization, engaging people in its unique work.

As Community Development Assistant, I helped carry out the newspaper’s philanthropic support of more than 100 nonprofits each year. I assisted in reviewing requests for support, making recommendations to Senior Executives, and coordinating donated ads and charitable contributions. During my time at the Statesman, our department launched two of the Statesman’s signature community efforts, the Season for Caring and Swim Safe for Austin Kids programs. My job enabled me to interact with people in each department, ranging from the Executive office to the printing presses.
