I am a numbers guy with a talent for communication and guiding teams (both credit teams and little league baseball/softball players). I have more than 25 years of experience in banking, primarily with underwriting, credit analysis and loan portfolio management.I've worked for both small, regional banks and global corporations, where I've gained expertise in several specialty market, including agriculture, oil/gas, construction, commercial real estate and non-profit organizations.In several instances, I've trained and developed teams of analysts, created a Credit Department and created comprehensive loan analysis procedures where none existed before. My experience at small banks has allowed broad internal interactions from loan officers to the Chairman of the Board, while regional and global banks have opened doors with industry risk specialists throughout the U.S.Colleagues would describe me as a straight-shooter - truthful, compassionate and a stickler for details. They would also say that I work hard to arrive at solutions that work for the client while still maintaining a strong credit culture.One of my proudest achievements has been mentoring various credit analysts who have gone on to achieve successes in various credit roles and others that have gone on to use their credit skills to succeed in business development roles.Outside of work, I've spent many years coaching my kids in sports. Nothing is more rewarding than giving young people the foundation of goal setting and team work, both of which are tools that they will need to succeed in their own endeavors.My favorite quote cannot be attributed to anyone famous nor is it a well-known, oft recited phrase but is something that has stuck with me throughout my career. "If this was your money, would you lend it to the proposed borrower? If you would not, why would you risk the money of others?"
