The HIS II position responsibilities were two-fold. For the Department of Health Services "Impact Sonoma" California Dept. of Public Health grant I staffed the primary objective centered upon retail policy development, The other key role was coordinating Unincorporated Sonoma County's Tobacco Retail License Ordinance. This provided invaluable experience in jurisdictional policy development, provision of technical assistance for community advocates and developing, overseeing and coordinating ordinance implementation and enforcement on the code-enforcement level.

The Bird Rescue Center rescues birds from as many as six north San Francisco Bay counties. We had a record intake of 3200 birds over 140 species from hummingbirds to pelicans this past year. Staffed by over 100 volunteers and 5 employees and reaching our 40th anniversary this year, BRC is an institution I am proud to represent!

As a Community Engagement Specialist for Community Action Partnership (CAP) Sonoma's Healthy Communities Department I am working to reduce high risk drinking and DUI crash and related fatalities in the Santa Rosa area through evidence-based social marketing campaigns. I coordinate a comprehensive intervention visibility campaign involving media, events and partnership building to fulfill the goals of a Strategic Prevention Framework State Incentive Grant (SPF SIG) from the US federal Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA). The overall goal of the grant is to improve community high risk drinking prevention efforts by developing a systematic approach to prevention that will facilitate the adoption of evidence-based prevention strategies and their effective implementation. As a part of this grant I:• Co-founded and coordinate The Santa Rosa Safe Community Initiative in partnership with Santa Rosa Police Department and the City of Santa Rosa.• Manage Responsible Beverage Service promotion through business establishment visitations, event participation and advertising campaigns.• Conduct quarterly Recognize and Remind operations with Santa Rosa Junior College Police Cadet volunteers in visits to local alcohol on and off sale establishments to encourage I.D. checking.• Represent CAP on the Sonoma County Prevention Partnership and Alcohol subcommittee- a multi-agency group whose mission is “to enhance the wellbeing of our community by working collaboratively to develop population level strategies to address alcohol, tobacco, and other drugs.”• Coordinate a comprehensive social marketing campaign focused on DUI enforcement visibility through radio, television, social media and event hosting and participation.• Fulfill monthly and quarterly SPF-SIG grant reporting requirements of the California Department of Health Care Services. As a founding member of the Pepperwood Preserve staff, over the course of my affiliation with the Pepperwood Foundation, I launched and managed its dynamic community engagement program. I was responsible for designing and building the communications strategies that supported the little known, fledgling organization through its growth into the celebrated and highly funded institution it had become by the end of my tenure there. As a rigorous networker I contributed significantly to building Pepperwood's relationships with a diverse constituency of investors. I specialized in sharing the Pepperwood story in a way that empowered my team and promoted a contagious passion and community partnership with the preserve and conservation science programs. While at Pepperwood I:• Served as assistant to the Executive Director for fundraising and development and messaging and branding.• Launched and managed the Pepperwood Membership program.• Specialized as VIP host and special events coordinator.• Served on and supported the Pepperwood Foundation Development Committee with Executive Director and Board founders.• Administered media and affiliate relations, cross-program marketing, branding and promotions. As Special Community Project Coordinator I managed programs related to HIV prevention and relief, sustainable agriculture development and ecotourism business development.
