WHAT I AM DOING:I believe our young people need support and encouragement to enthusiastically pursue STEM (Science Technology Engineering Mathematics) careers. I transitioned my career from engineering to secondary education, teaching Mathematics, Physics and Science.WHAT I HAVE DONE:I have over 21 years’ experience in engineering project delivery in the minerals processing industry and 8 years in secondary education. My engineering roles include project and department leadership, mentoring, design, engineering, construction, commissioning and operations undertaken for clients in China, India, Russia, Japan, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Bulgaria, South Korea, South Africa and all parts of Australia.WHAT SKILLS I HAVE:Through my broad experiences, I have become proficient at applying a systemic perspective to leadership and problem-solving, working collaboratively to achieve sustainable solutions for all stakeholders. I am highly self-aware, proactive and adaptable. I have a proven track record of meeting and managing differing needs of personal, organisational, regional and international cultures. I place a strong emphasis on open communications and productive working relationships, and my demonstrated integrity and professionalism are valued by my peers and leaders. I am known for my balanced and open demeanour and my ability to understand and bring out the best in people.WHAT NEXT....With my teaching experience, plus technical and interpersonal strengths, I am now mentoring young people as they grow and develop into positive and productive citizens. I am helping young learners prepare and be capable of dealing with people and technical challenges, to thrive and succeed in the challenging worlds ahead of them.
