Hello, my name is Greg Dotson, I currently work for the Seaside School District in the role of I.T. support specialist. I've always enjoyed working with computers and continue to strive to maintain and expand my knowledge in my field.I worked at an unpaid internship through my years in high school at one of the computer repair stores locally, this internship taught me the skills needed to begin building my own computers.After College, I moved back to Seaside and started my company, Coastal Custom Computers. I ran this company from late 2015 to early 2022. I built my business from the ground up, soon I had a client list several pages long and a thriving business. My business focused mainly on computer repair, custom-built machines, and network repair / new network deployment.With the downturn after Covid, high taxes, and the slowdown of goods sold due to inflation, I accepted a position at the Seaside School District in 2022 and closed my business to new clients. Now I service my existing clients outside of work hours.This position has given me many opportunities. This year I was a part of a two-man team in our department that interviewed and hired summer-paid interns. I was then given the task of overseeing these interns, lining up work for them, and making sure they worked well together and that they had a good work environment and all the tools necessary to complete the tasks laid out before them. While also showing them more of the back end of how our systems work.I enjoy leading teams, expanding my knowledge, and enjoying all life sends my way. A good team is almost like magic! I want to reward good ideas no matter where they come from. I fully acknowledge that I may not always be the smartest person in the room and am ok with this. I'm ok with slowing down and taking time with an important task, planning everything out if needed, and delegating tasks to other members, even if it means they will get recognized for the success. Building a good team that works well together, is my success.
