Greg is an insurance litigator based in DAC Beachcroft’s Bristol office. His Complex Property team sits within the firm's Claims Solutions Group.Greg specialises in all aspects of property-related insurance law, including pursuing and defending high value property damage, construction and product liability claims. He has extensive experience of claims and issues arising under structural warranties.Greg advises on all aspects of policy coverage including complex indemnity issues and potentially fraudulent claims. He also advises on foreign claims involving disputes arising outside the jurisdiction.Greg has a particular interest in high value and technically complex disputes.Relevant experience includes advising:- Structural warranty insurers in respect of numerous disputes involving defects and health and safety issues within domestic, commercial, multi-ownership and converted properties, with claims ranging in value to in excess of £10 million. This involved training to in-house teams as well as third party providers, to hone strategy and best practice.- Buildings insurers on the successful recovery of their substantial outlay (over £2.5 million) following a serious fire at a retail park in 2017. The claim settled pre-issue and out of court, resulting in significant time and costs savings- Liability insurers in the successful Court of Appeal case of Stannard (t/a Wyvern Tyres) -v- Gore [2012] EWCA Civ 1248, which concerned the interpretation of the strict liability rule in Rylands -v- Fletcher for incidents involving the escape of fire, and resulted in the successful defence of the claim.Greg is an effective negotiator and keen advocate of alternative dispute resolution. He has successfully acted for clients both defending and pursuing claims at numerous mediations. He is also experienced in adjudication and arbitration.
