After retiring as the CFO of Mac Papers + Packaging, I was invited to serve on the Board and Audit Committee by the new private equity sponsor owner. The roles involve regular meetings and updates and exercising governance oversight.

As CFO of Mac Papers, I have had the opportunity to work with the senior management of the Company to develop and execute plans to expand the Company's growth prospects through acquisitions, geographical expansion, and new lines of business that complement the current offerings. I have overseen the update of the Company's IT infrastructure and have restructured the Company's debt to significantly lower the cost of capital. I lead the efforts to develop a customer profitability model that has allowed us to evaluate the profitability of existing business and project the impact on profitability of changes in our service model, as well as allowing us to determine whether new business will be profitable. I received an Ultimate CFO award from the Jacksonville Business Journal in 2015. I helped lead the successful sale process that allowed the family to exit its ownership of the Company in March 2020.

As CFO, I had a close working relationship with the CEO, COO and Board of Directors to establish the strategic direction of the Company. I was responsible for all of the financial functions, as well as the Risk Management and Information Technology functions. I worked closely with the private equity sponsor in setting and executing financial policy, making bolt-on acquisitions, and successfully selling the Company to a strategic buyer.

I started with Shands as the Director of Accounting (1990) at their UF campus. I received promotions to Controller (1993) and then Vice President of Finance (1996) at the UF campus. I was transferred to Shands Jacksonville as the CFO in 2000. I was responsible for Accounting, Third-Party Reimbursement, Patient Financial Services, Admissions, Financial Planning & Analysis, Payroll & Accounts Payable. I was a key member of the senior management team that stabilized the financial performance of the Jacksonville organization and set the stage for a recapitalization.

I joined PwC right after graduation from college. I passed all 4 parts of the CPA exam in the first sitting, scoring high enough to be honored with an Elijah Watt Sells award. I worked on the Audit staff and had the opportunity to serve many of the office's largest clients in a very diverse group of industries. My billable hours were consistently among the highest in the office and the engagements that I supervised were among the most profitable in the office.
