Responsible for international co-ordination, best practice sharing, training and product roll out in the paid search and affiliate channels from the Sunnyvale office. Led global targeting for eBay onsite merchandising. One interesting project was figuring out how to predict people's gender with a very low ground truth set. First name was a good approximation and this enabled us to get a big uplift from merchandising to women not men. From my understanding at the time, the reason for this is we had a mostly male design team and had defaulted to things like male razors in the ads so we got no uplift on men from segmenting using this data.
