I manage a 2 acre facility, 31 vehicles/equipment fleet, $1.6 million Operations budget and provide leadership to ~32 FT&PT staff in developing and completing work plans, cyclic maintenance, strategic initiatives, capital projects and special events related to urban forestry, horticulture and GIS. In 2018 developed a pilot program to introduce unmanned aerial systems into the work flow of GIS operations to conduct photogrammetry and remote sensing missions. Using fixed wing and multirotor sUAVs conducted 412 missions mapping parks, developing NDVI maps of athletic fields, photographing infrastructure, inspecting trees and monitoring construction projects. Provided administrative, professional and managerial services related to management of the urban forest, right-of-way medians, grounds at city building, commuter trail system and the trail’s greenways and pocket parks maintenance. Delegated work objectives and followed up with staff on tasks and activities. Developed a Forestry web page for educational purposes and to allow the public to keep up to date on maintenance operations. Responsible for the City's Urban Forestry Program. Review development plans, building permits and parking lot designs for preserving, managing, mitigating and monitoring trees and tree preservation areas. Review plans for accurate tree canopy measurements and compliance with landscape requirements. Ensure submitted construction plans meet city zoning and ordinance requirements. Apply for and oversee grants. Prepare tree planting plans. Prepare bids and administer contracts to plant street and park trees. Lead and work with Community Tree Board to develop/update ordinances and update Landscape Manual. Work with contractor conducting i-Tree STREETS and ECO inventory. Create and present tree pruning and safety workshops and present to city staff. Use ArcView GIS (9.3 and 10) to develop shapefiles and databases tracking natural resources. Inspect public land trees to determine hazard conditions, route work orders for pruning or removal to work crews.

Serve as the department Natural Resource Specialist and section's GIS Analyst. Manage City’s Upland Habitat Protection program preserving, managing and monitoring wildlife habitat within large-scale developments. Review construction plans then field verify specifying areas for habitat preservation and tree retention and/or removal based on land alterations and tree conditions. Conduct bi-annual inspections with landowner. Develop a bi-annual management plan using mechanical or chemical control of invasives or prescribe bums or roller chopping to maintain habitat. Review developmental plans for tree preservation. Determine tree critical root area, root pruning needs and a trees ability to withstand developmental stress. Perform tree hazard assessment issuing removal permits as needed. Use ANSI-A300 Standards to review trees for structural pruning. Investigate tree code violations. Send out Notice of Violation, Prepare violation case and present evidence before Code Enforcement Board. Serve as technical assistant on Urban Forestry Grants, developing technical standards, researching new technologies or methods. Contract Manager of grants overseeing citywide satellite tree canopy analysis and UFORE study, East Tampa i-Tree (STRATUM) tree inventory and Project Manager overseeing construction of $5.5 million dollar marina. Familiar with GPS units and software as well as ArcGIS (ArcINFO) and MapInfo GIS systems. Able to professionally communicate through technical writings, oral communications and with presentations to engineers, biological consultants, State, Federal Environmental agencies and City Council.

Review single-family dwelling building permits and on-site tree resources determining tree retention requirements based on land alteration then issuing Natural Resource Permits as prescribed in the Land Development Code (LDC).
