Working computer science specialists, the role involved providing a range of visual design solutions across a variety of educational resources. These resources were designed to support the teaching and learning of coding, and the implementation of the Australian Digital Curriculum for schools.As the team had minimal experience in visual design, the role also involved creation across various visual design disciplines, but also advising on best practice in production processes, user experience and hiring of talent. Work involved:• creating bot skins, and working interactive maps for Microbots programming activities;• creating animated video explainers for the Schools Cybersecurity Challenges;• advising on best practice with storyboarding and production workflow for animation and video production/post production;• creating graphics, and advising on best practice for Social Media Safety Challenges for the Schools Cybersecurity Challenges;• creating illustrated cards and UI keying system for the Australian Computer Academy website;• advising on best practice for user interface design and user experience; • organising talent, and shooting photography for interactive social media challenge activities;• providing advice on post production and assisting in sourcing post production agencies;• creating animated video explainers, and consulting on best practice for storyboarding and animation/video production pipelines;• creating graphics for educational activities to teach coding to students from K-12;• creating signage and promotional print and digital collateral for the Australian Computer Academy and School Cybersecurity Challenges;• creating branding, iconography and educational posters for the Schools Cybersecurity Challenges;• creating posters and graphical educational activities for the Australian Computer Academy

In short, my role at HETI was twofold: 1) to provide visual and multimedia design and create concepts for eLearning across all media types;2) to improve the standard of knowledge, communication & best practise across the wider team.VISUAL DESIGN RESPONSIBILITIES• consult & collaborate with instructional designers & clients to find the most engaging user experience• create graphics, illustrations, user interface designs, game design, infographics & any other visual requirements for modules • create storyboards, graphics & animations for video explainers• prepare style guides & graphical assets for developers• design support material for e-learning (posters and job aides)• provide support & art direction for photoshoots & video shoots• edit video & sound assets • provide standards & workshops to improve both UX & technical understanding across the organisationOTHER RESPONSIBILITIES• Work with the business process manager, senior instructional designer & management consultants to improve production processes (development of project process framework)• mentor junior teams in best practice across all project areas including instructional design & development• elevate & align communication across all areas of the project process;• elevate the level of multimedia development of overseas consultant work

Working across Tablet, Mobile and Web, my position here involved:• creating illustrated & animated assets for games (background design, character design, interface design, avatar system assets & other game assets); • working closely with developers to ensure assets optimised for web, mobile or tablet;• video capture, editing & motion graphics work for the 3rd Sense showreel, & other video.Clients worked on include: Nickelodeon, Reading Eggs (Blake), Jetstar, Century 21, Kia.

With 1MD servicing larger ad agency Odd Fellows, work here involved:• flash animation of high end rich media banners;• design for Micro sites & landing pages;• flash presentations;• after effects animation for client work and the 1MD showreel.Main clients here included: Toyota, Lexus, Hino, Eggs, Yellow Tail and Mitsubishi.

Illustration and animation for K-12 education

Working through high school and art school, time spent with customers to finding a solution to their needs has given me an extensive and deep knowledge of art supplies and their application. Although only a shop job, listening and understanding artists, designers and architects needs has given me a great foundations in problem solving, empathy & design thinking which I have carried throughout my life.

Being a dual internship, my duties included:- concept design for websites;- flash design and animation- designing course notes and providing technical assistance to students.During this time I undertook a certificate IV in workplace training.
