The Flight Safety Foundation, in association with the mining and resource sector, developed a common industry based aviation safety standard framed against the actual threats posed to resource sector fixed and rotary wing aviation operations. These threats are directly linked to control, recovery and mitigation measures in a risk-based manner.Activities within this sector include the transport of personnel and equipment between sites, geophysical activities, exploration activities and aeromedical transport.This global program also offers benefits to organizations in other sectors, including Government and Defense, who have similar risk profiles in the utilization of contract aviation to support their activities.The Flight Safety Foundation has recently signed a Memorandum of Cooperation with the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) for the sharing of data. De-identified data derived from the BARS Program will form a part of that data sharing.The Flight Safety Foundation’s BARS Program Office is located in Melbourne, Australia.
