The role generally included managing the design office and carrying out engineering assessment of subdivisional work. The role of Development Engineer included:The assessment of the development applications for material change of use, reconfiguration and operational works from pre-lodgement advice, processing through the Integrated development assessment system of the Integrated Planning Act. This included the investigation of the application, information requests, reporting to Council, negotiation of conditions, examination of engineering design and specifications, construction supervision, and preparation of survey plans for sealing.Writing Council’s “Design Standards” and standard drawings for roadworks stormwater sewerage and water reticulation for integration with the IPA planning scheme (in conjunction with Gladstone City Council).
