Reporting to the Head of Manufacturing I am responsible for the management and delivery of automation solutions on engineering projects from pre-sales through to concept and commissioning. I currently have 7 direct reports and up to 10 contractors depending on project load and together our team is responsible for multiple different sized projects that are often progressing concurrently and at different phases. My main responsibilities include, successfully managing and delivering automation solutions for engineering projects by managing the day-to-day operations of the automation team. Fostering a high performing, engaged team who collaborate well together. Stakeholder management and technical leadership of edge computing and machine to cloud connectivity.

In this role I led multiple teams of control system engineers working on different projects. I had overall responsibility for the completion of the PML project lifecycle, including machine concepts and design review, risk assessment and safety reviews.Commissioning took place on our site in New Zealand and reinstall and commissioning on customer sites, mostly China, Thailand, USA and Mexico. I was responsible for designing control system hardware, PLC programming, HMI programming, Servos Programming. Budget and scheduling of project spend, Mentoring junior engineers and technical support to all other engineers. I led the commissioning process with support from the mechanical commissioning team.

n this role I led 6 Engineers and 40 tradesmen, I was responsible for all electrical and controls installation on the project. I was acting Site Installation Manager during his absence, and I also wrote documentation for electrical installation quality control, customer acceptance testing and controls installation.

In this role I was responsible for plant commissioning Siemens S5 and S7 PLCs and associated Siemens Profibus equipment. Alterations to existing Intouch applications. Commissioning software and electrical alterations. Technical support to maintenance engineers on the factory floor and maintenance and fault finding.

Johnson Matthey is a precious metals refinery, in this role I was responsible for project Management and PLC programming, commissioning and fault finding, Omron CS1 & Allen Bradley. SCADA application development, HAZOPing of plant and process. I designed process controls and instrumentation associated with a major manufacturing plant including Electrical and Instrument specification and installation techniques. I also wrote URS’s, FDS approvals and witnessed FAT’s and SAT’s.

I was responsible for plant commissioning, Installation, maintenance and fault finding on high speed packing and process machines. I also did general engineering, electrical installation, maintenance and trained and assessed apprentices.
