Creative DirectorTesseract Center For Immersive Environments And Game Design Jul 2018 - Jan 2020Fayetteville, Arkansas AreaThe Creative Director position has three primary areas of impact:Projects - People - PublicFor Projects, the Creative Director (CD) is responsible for Alignment, Assessment, Impetus, and Evaluation. The CD must understand and align the high-level creative intent of the Studio Director with the more specific goals of the Project Teams. The CD conducts frequent check-ins on projects' progress toward their creative goals, including narrative, mechanics, art, and technical approaches, and guides them to ensure these are in sync and reinforce high-level goals. If a major pivot or jumpstart is needed, the CD will coordinate with the Project Team Lead in order to promote brainstorming and group input, and get a range of ideas moving forward for iteration and evaluation. The CD's job is to look for and help cultivate sustained evidence of prototyping and iteration, and a tangible connection to the advancement of the project toward its goals. For People, the CD provides guidance for Leads through project and personnel management. This includes structuring a project so interns can be successful, assisting with how to handle direct reports, and how, in turn, to set up Senior Artists and Specialists to manage intern reports. The CD coordinates with the Studio Director to track the growth of Leads from a creative standpoint, especially in terms of developing evidence of ongoing skill refinement and the improvement in understanding how the disciplinary focus of the Lead can promote creative success in projects. The CD also promotes the growth of interns, helping determine appropriate task assignments to advance career objectives, and allow creative growth and meaningful project input. For Public, the CD assumes primary responsibility for running Tesseract day-to-day when the Studio Director is out. This includes internal management of projects and schedules (working together with the PM and Leads) as well as outward facing communication (with faculty, admin, visitors). -
