About Greg Stephenson
I have served the community for 38 years the last 23 as a Commander with the Metropolitan Fire Brigade in Melbourne. During this time I have undertaken various roles within the organisation with major contribution in managing the upgrade of the MFB's HAZMAT capability through the Hazmat enhancement project. I also chaired the Chemical, Biological and Radiological (CBR) Training Working Group, which was responsible for devising and conducting the Victorian Multiagency CBR Incident Management courses that trained approx 180 senior emergency service personnel in multi agency incident management under the CBR context over a five year period. In 2008 I completed an 18 month Ontological Coaching course with Talking About P/L and have since coached and mentored future leaders of the MFB. Since retiring I have worked with ERS as a Fire & Emergency Management Consultant in various training and EM roles accross private and Government sectors.
Listed skills include Management, Emergency Services, Hazardous Materials, Emergency Management, and 13 others.

Fire & Emergency Management Consultant
Director
G & S and Associates was started with a view to extend to others my skills and knowledge within the Emergency Management sector. Given my back ground in training multi agency incident managers, fire prevention and response and or in a community safety consultancy role, I can be of great help with organisations operating in these competitive areas. The second string to G&S's bow is that of leadership coaching and training. I have enjoyed a leadership/mentoring role within the MFB for many years and am a qualified Ontological Coach. I enjoy the challenge of assisting people who want to change/enhance the way they do things both at a professional level and life in general.
Commander Hazmat And Scientific Services
I was appointed to this position to manage the Hazmat Enhancement project established to review the MFB's capability and set in place an upgrade to equipment and establish a new Hazmat Technicians role within the organisation. Complimenting this, a review on the Scientific section was undertaken with the department resulting in comprehensive equipment overhaul for the scientific team and increase in staff. As a result the MFB now has a world class hazmat and scientific response capability.
Chair Chemical, Biological And Radiological Training Group
As chair of the CBR Training Working group I led the review of the State's capability into CBR response prior to the M2006 Commonwealth Games in Melbourne. The group trained approx 180 incident managers from all emergency response disciplines over a 5 year period. The CBR Incident Management course was the first course in Victoria to introduce the concept of Emergency Management Teams as a basis for managing a CBR type incident. EMT's are now well established in the emergency management and response environment across the State.
Secondment To The Dept Of Justice
During this time I worked closely within the Office on a number of projects designed to enhance the emergency management arrangements of the State. This involved a liaison role within Government and other Emergency Response agencies.
Commander Community Education
I managed the Community Education Department and was responsible for the delivery of fire safety educational programs for the community. MFB's main objective is to reduce the incidence and impact of fire and other emergencies on the community. This objective is achieved through the delivery of educational strategies that assist the community to become more self-reliant. My department worked closely with Melbourne's diverse communities, across all age groups, to promote community safety and coordinate emergency prevention activities.
District Officer/Inspector
I held a number of operational and functional roles within the zone management systems of the MFB over this period.
