About Greg Stokes
As an experienced FA qualified football coach and qualified teacher, I have developed and refined my practice throughout the last 15 years to ensure that I have the skills and attributes to effectively support the development of the young people I work with. During this time, I have worked with all ages and abilities within grassroots, senior and academy football, whilst also teaching practical and academic PE within a variety of high performing secondary schools. I have acquired a secure evidence-based pedagogical knowledge and technical and tactical understanding to effectively implement a broad range of teaching/coaching strategies to ensure the progress of both individual players and the collective team I may be working with. My coaching ethos is to facilitate a player-centered environment that fosters the holistic progression of autonomous individuals through creativity, decision making and most importantly, enjoyment. Furthermore, working with young people every day has refined my pastoral ability to efficiently manage and care for their diverse needs to create an environment in which they can holistically grow and perform at the highest level. To achieve this, I have managed staff and worked collaboratively with other departments to nurture development on and off the pitch. I understand that all areas of player development must be considered and cared for if they are to perform at the highest level in their football and day-to-day lives.Being part of this learning process and within football is something I am extremely passionate about. I have always had the desire to work at the highest level and this is reflected in my work ethic to continually develop to achieve this. I believe that the qualifications I have achieved in my education and coaching as well as the experience I have as a qualified teacher provides me with an extensive range of skills to ensure that all players are actively engaged and are making sufficient progress to fulfil their potential.
