In August 2024 I was invited to take on a secondment into the role of Principal Engineer for the Yorkshire and Northeast region for 12 months, which I gladly accepted. Responsible for all assets in the Yorkshire and Northeast region. This involves managing a scheduled inspection programme, defect prioritisation & works scheduling.I also line manage a team of one Senior Asset Engineer and four Asset Engineers.

I am an Asset Engineer for the Canal and River Trust (CRT). This primarily involves looking after all assets owned by CRT by prioritising repair and renewal works, inspecting the condition of assets and implementing the business plans for future years. In September 2019 I was asked to step in as temporary Senior Engineer. The Senior Engineer role also includes managing a team of 4 length inspectors, who inspect the canals and other CRT assets in the Yorkshire and North East area.

At WHP they took on a huge range of jobs upgrading telecommunications equipment for company's such as; EE (T-Mobile and Orange), Vodafone and Three (3).My main responsibility was to manage the 2G onto 3G project being run by both NSN and Huawei. This involved taking on a site at design stage, taking it through to build and then handing the site over. Once this was done it was handed over to finance to get paid for the completed works.I also had other responsibilities at WHP project such as;;- Submitting purchase orders and final accounts to the clients and subcontractors.- Completing detailed design drawings and as built drawings using CAD.- Being in close contact with the clients and subcontractors.- Ordering the telecoms kit needed for the site upgrades.- The arranging of asbestos surveys with PCS Asbestos. To make sure the site is safe for workers.- Conduct underground utility searches on sites. This makes sure the sites are not located on any services that could cause damage and/or danger to the site and on site personnel. - Completing site audits, schedule of works forms and residual risk forms.- Dealing and solving all of the day to day problems we have on site.
