Established my consulting business offering extensive experience in general business, specialist sector advisory, operational and leadership support. Most recently I have carried out project assignments for clients in the events and hire industry and provided operational support in the transport sector.

After initially consulting and being part of the DD team for the purchase of this award winning wholesale bakery business, I then assumed the role of GM. This included full financial responsibility on behalf of the owner. After successfully navigating the initial COVID environment and initiating the first stages of the growth plan for the business, I then handed over the GM function to the owner, with my role reverted to consulting on special projects including mentoring new management staff, reviewing operating procedures and providing general support to the business.

Initially a part time 2 days a week role created when we sold our Event Hire division, Continental Event Hire, to Hirepool. Key focus being to assist with the integration plan following the transaction. The role also encompasses providing strategic insight as Hirepool looked to reposition their events business nationwide. This included engagement with external strategic consultants and the senior leadership team. Focus then moved to continuing to develop the business growth plan including evaluating new product lines to bring to the companies already extensive offering.

In June 2017 I stood down from full time work in the business. Assisted with establishment of new company board including appointment of independent chair. Completed the sell down of my interest in the business to a senior manager. Stayed on to oversee some project work including the delivery of the 2018 Golden Oldies Festival held in Christchurch.

Managed the business through a period of significant growth including retail acquisitions, contract catering, venue management procurement, and a complete rebrand of the business in 2007. First stages of succession planning for our family business introduced. Successfully lead the business through the disruptive period of the Christchurch earthquakes. Project managed the green fields development of new premises including land acquisition, design and build. Instigated succession planning including the successful sell- down of our Events Hire division to a competitor, and the sell-down of my parents shareholding in the business (50%) to a senior manager.

Joining the family business from High School, I spent the first years working across all areas of the business including bakery and food production, administration (payroll and accounts payable and receivable), marquee hire division and then venue management and sales.
