Fronting for a news interview can be daunting. But nerves will fade once you know how to prepare and engage. A half-day media training workshop takes the mystery out of media engagement. You'll discover what reporters look for in a story and how to present yourself in an interview. The sessions are fun, lively, and informative, without ambushes or embarrassment. Coaching is available for individuals or small groups of two or three people. I also offer online training via Zoom. Once you gain confidence, the benefits of media training go far beyond a news interview. You can use these new skills in boardroom presentations, job interviews and public speaking roles.My media background spans three decades. I've held reporting and news reading roles at RNZ, Newstalk ZB, TVNZ and TV3. Overseas postings include reporter roles with Australia's Network Ten in Sydney and foreign correspondent work with the IBS radio news agency in London. For more than 20 years, I was a freelance New Zealand correspondent for BBC radio and TV.In other media roles, I have also been a presentation and voice coach for TVNZ reporters and an international media guide for Tourism New Zealand. During the 1999 APEC conference in Auckland, I was a media ambassador supporting the CBS network. In 2002, I supported Prime Minister Helen Clark as she toured New Zealand, presenting a travel show with Discovery Channel.Although I no longer report for domestic media, I occasionally freelance for overseas news agencies, including the BBC and Canada's CBC Television.
