At FEI I had primarily been a New Product Introduction (NPI) engineer for operations. In this role I worked with a cross functional team (i.e. R&D, Engineering, Marketing, Sourcing, etc.) from the US, Czech Republic and The Netherlands. My job was to design for manufacturability (DFM), vet and work with suppliers, coordinate with internal logistics/purchasing to setup the supply chain, specify and purchase capital equipment needed to test and manufacture the product, train the technicians/assemblers, write ISO 9001 work instructions and work with the field to launch/support the product. Throughout the launch of a new product I used tools such as LEAN, Statistical Process Control (SPC) and Sig Sigma to perform Continuous Product Improvements (CIP) to reduce cycle time, improve internal/external yield and reduce the Cost of Goods Sold (COGS). Once I met my yield target in the release phase, I coordinated the transition of producing/ maintaining the product to the sustaining engineers. I also moved a product line from Boston to Hillsboro in a takeover and reduced the Cost of Goods Sold (COGS) from $106k to $56k through restarting the entire supply chain and modernizing the manufacturing process.

While at Volvo Trucks I generated labor standards, lines balances and the line layout. I also identified and lead a project that resulted in a 31% head count reduction• Responsible for MOST time standards, line balancing, tool selection, workstation design, plant layout, ergonomics, design change implementation, labor relations, Bills Of Material (BOM), simulations, statistical analysis and ISO 9000 procedures for this Just In Time (JIT) / LEAN plant producing 86 trucks per day.• Served on the global team responsible for the new model product launch. Went to Sweden to evaluate the manufacturability of the new design. Regularly participated in remote design reviews.• Identified and lead a project to combine two separate lines into one.o Took 6 months of planning to complete the line balances and material layout.o Performed the transition over the weekend with no disruption to production on Monday.o Eliminated 16 positions from the former 52 positions for a 31% head count reduction.
