The National Commander Australian Air Force Cadets is a Chief of Air Force appointment at Group Captain (AAFC) rank to deliver executive command to an organisation of 1000 staff and 7500 cadets in 160 units across the nation. The role is voluntary part time - as is the case with all Officers and Instructors of Air Force Cadets - and works responsive to the Director General Cadets - Air Force who administers the AAFC through Air Force Cadet Branch Canberra.
