After an early career as a San Francisco musician, as well as several professional "day jobs," I decided to combine my creativity and love for wine to pursue a career in winemaking. I began the core science studies at City College of San Francisco, then transferred to UC Davis. I graduated from UC Davis with a bachelor’s degree in Viticulture and Enology and highest honors in 1998.My first harvest work was in the lab and cellar of Schramsberg Vineyards and Winery in Calistoga for the 1997 vintage. After graduating from UC Davis in 1998 I joined the dynamic team at R.H. Phillips. For years I had the desire to make wine in Sonoma County and the development of Sonoma County AVA wine programs at R.H. Phillips created a natural bridge for me to make the transition. In 2006 I accepted the role as Winemaker at Valley of the Moon and moved to Petaluma. In the summer of 2013, ready for a new adventure, I accepted the position of Director of Winemaking at Hogue Cellars in Prosser Washington. After five vintages in the great Northwest, and missing family and friends in my home state, I returned to California for my current position as Director of Winemaking at Mendocino Wine Company overseeing our owned brands, including Parducci and Paul Dolan organic wines, as well as all custom crush operations.
