After twenty five years as a bureaucrat in one role or another for local, state, and federal agencies, I have taken on a new role as a self-employed small business owner. In August 2022 I purchased 4.3 acres in the historic Terlingua Ghost Town, which includes The Boathouse Bar & Bungalows. The Boathouse was originally built in the early 80s as the storage barn for Far Flung Adventures water craft to support their Rio Grande river guide services. After Far Flung Adventures moved their operations to another property on Hwy. 170, The Boathouse became a bar and campground for several years in the early years of the 21st century. The bar has not operated in several years and the previous owner set up several short-term rental units on the property. The bar will once again be opened and the excitement among the local community to have The Boathouse re-opened as the hangout for the river guides and local residents is propelling me forward to make it better than ever while keeping it very much the same as it has been. Short-term rentals will be available on air bnb as The Boathouse Bungalows.
