Business Consultant Volunteer
CurrentThe Cranfield Trust helps charities and social enterprises by providing them with experts to assist in meeting their business and organisational challenges. I have been helping a number of charities:Sunshine and Smiles in Leeds help children and families with Down syndrome. They were seeking help to develop the business case and implementation plan for Cafe 21 which aims to provide young adults with work experience. The Avalon Group provide support to a wide range of individuals across the North of England, including older adults with dementia and young people in transition and adults on the autistic spectrum. They required help with their marketing and communications strategy specifically to grow key areas of their service provision. The Welfare Benefits Unit in York provide expert advice, training and consultancy to front line advisors, charities and other third parties helping individuals navigate the benefit system. As pressure is placed on existing contract revenues, they require help to build and execute a marketing and sales plan to drive incremental business and ensure the sustainability of their service.Connex Community Support offer care and support to the vulnerable in High Peak and the Derbyshire Dales. Helping over 3000 people a year, they rely a lot on council contracts, funding and referrals which continue to be at risk as budgets are cut. They required help to understand how marketing can help build awareness and thus assist in achieving their goals of increasing donations, applications for care staff, and offers of volunteer support. The project is defining the marketing resource and processes to be adopted, and developing communication plan to be executed and maintained going forward.
